Interesting case-Overdenture

Submitted by: Richard Ehrlich

This gentleman had a failing bridge from 11-15. 14 had some serious recurrent decay, and 15 had a core/crown. 13 was a pontic.  The patient declined implants, and did not want to redo the bridge 11-13 for an attachment.

We decided to prep the 13 pontic as a crown, make an over-crown with a ball attachment, and make a partial upper to fit the attachments. 15 is acting as an overdenture. On the opposite side, I prepped an inlay-shaped area on the existing bridge to help secure the framework, almost like a semi-precision attachment.

The 1.3 was AA sandblasted, and Panavia was used to bond the crown to the pontic. The partial is nice and solid, but hopefully will not pull the over-crown off the pontic framework. I may remove the clasp on the left side in the future if it's staying in well.

It may not go on the guru lecture tour, but I thought it was a good compromise.
